The tension of taking on different roles, at different times, in search for a common rhythm. The only rule was: don't undo.
TLDR: Twitter
SE7EN TR8ATS project captures a 13-min improvisation on a TR8 909 rhythm machine, carried
over into a new session, where I play only bass. In the third session, I add the finishing touches.
I've captured the entire rhythm and bass sessions on video.
During the process I felt many moments of tension, but many more of sync. Building everyting on top a 13-minute beat improvisation was a beautiful contstraint. Knowing that I won't undo the beat, no matter how rhough it may be at times, freed me up to build on top in ways I normally don't do.
To me, almost none of the tension comes through when you just listen.
I'm very interested what you think.
